OVERVIEW

Historic Jeddah, or "Al-Balad," is located in the heart of Jeddah and is one of its oldest neighborhoods, dating back more than 1,400 years. It was a major port for traders and pilgrims traveling to Mecca, giving it a unique architectural and cultural character that blends Hijazi, Yemeni, and Levantine influences. The area includes more than 500 heritage buildings and several ancient mosques, such as the Uthman ibn Affan Mosque, as well as traditional markets and narrow alleys that reflect the spirit of the place. Historic Jeddah was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2014 in recognition of its historical and architectural value.

ABOUT THE TRIP

Our private tour of Historic Jeddah begins with a walking tour of the alleys of "Al-Balad," starting at the Uthman ibn Affan Mosque, one of the oldest mosques in the region. We then visit prominent landmarks such as Beit Nassif, which hosted King Abdulaziz upon his entry into Jeddah, Beit Ba'ashan, and several traditional Hijazi houses with wooden balconies (rawashin).

We stop in the Craftsmen's Alley to buy handmade gifts and learn about ancient crafts. We then continue the tour through the traditional markets and explore Jeddah's old gates, such as Bab Makkah and Bab Sharif.

The trip concludes with an authentic Hijazi dinner at a traditional restaurant, amidst an atmosphere that reflects the flavors and traditions of Jeddah's people.
